In December 2013, I went through the process of getting enrolled into college at Middle Georgia State University. I had recently worked as a banker for a local bank in the Middle Georgia area. Being a wife with three children, I wanted to do something with more stability and also something where I felt I was truly helping people. I wanted to make a difference and be the change that I wished to see in the world. Having a family, the financial portion of getting through Nursing School was definitely a challenge that I had to put into consideration. Once accepted into Nursing School, I set off on my first day of orientation to meet my soon to be classmates and instructors. Little did I know I would meet Ms. Cristie Freeman, who literally changed not only my financial situation with school, but was an outlet to go to with any questions I had throughout this journey of Nursing School. Going into Nursing School, I didn’t realize the support that was available for students through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program. It made providing for my family much easier due to the financial assistance so gratefully given by the Consortium. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in May 2019 and proudly accepted a Labor and Delivery position with Houston Medical Center. I sincerely want to thank the Middle Georgia Consortium, Inc. and WIOA for being there for me and helping me through this amazing journey in becoming a Registered Nurse. I am sincerely thankful for everything the Middle Georgia Consortium has done for me and my family. I am forever grateful!
